Scraptastic Tuesday - October Link Up

It's the second Tuesday of October, and the Scraptastic Tuesday monthly link is open.

Leanne has been celebrating Thanksgiving in Canada and with all her cleaning and cooking, tidying and eating she has been a bit busy.   Hence the late start but it still is Tuesday in the UK people!

I have done very little on the scrappy front but thought this might count....

I am making house blocks to make a village quilt for Siblings Together.   I got inspiration from all the house blocks donated to Siblings Together at Stitch Gathering.  They are going to be made into 4 lovely fun quilts which the children will absolutely love!

A huge thank you to our generous sponsors for providing the following prizes which will be awarded randomly among those of you who link up.
  • Massdrop - Fabric Bundle to be announced

Please join Leanne from She Can Quilt and I by linking up a blog post or flickr or instagram photo sharing a scrappy project, in progress or finished, or your thoughts on dealing with your scrap mountain:
  • You don't have to have joined us before, everyone is welcome.
  • One link per person, and it will be your entry into the random draw for the prizes. It is the same link up here and at Leanne's blog - She Can Quilt - so you only need to link up on one of our blogs.
  • This link is to share with our community about using your scraps, please don't use it to advertise your own products or events.
  • You can link up from your blog, instagram or flickr, but you have to link up to be entered in the prize draw.
  • Please visit at least a few of the links, they are very inspiring, and leave comments too as everyone loves to connect.
  • Use the Scraptastic Tuesday button and invite your friends to join us too. Please share our button, or a link or the hashtag #scraptastictuesday in your linked post or photo.
  • The link is open until next Monday night at 10:00 pm MST. We will announce the winners next Tuesday.
  • If you have trouble linking up, let me or Leanne know and we will get you sorted.

My FAL 2016 Quarter Four list!

Finish A Long 2016

This is the last quarter of the year people and I have lots left on my huge list of last quarter.  I did finish 18 projects which sounds great until I mention that there were 46 projects on my list!

I regret to say I can use the exact same mosaic for my own quilts as I have only worked on two and they are not finished...progress on those two below

Working clockwise:
1. Double Wedding Ring aka Hoopla Quilt - a f:inished top; 2.  KLT applecore and 3. Alhambra quilt (not yet finishe tops); 4. Bring Me Flowers (2 blocks); 5. Oakshott Christmas candy quiltlet (an idea and FQ bundle);  6. Britt's quilt - being handquilted;  7. 2016 Scraptastic Sampler - a finished top; and  8. Greek Cross baby quilt needs a bit more quilting and some bits need requilting;

Here is my meagre progress on the two quilts I have worked on.  The finished top (unless I add a border) of my scraptastic sampler now looks like this:

And I have managed some handquilting on Britt's Quilt, which now looks like this

Next up are the quilts I'm making for the charity Siblings Together - I did finish three quilts last quarter and I made a start on two.  Here is my updated mosaic which also has a new start inspired by the lovely house blocks donated to the charity at Stitch Gathering, and I have decided to make my Trellis blocks into a quilt for the charity:

Working clockwise: 9. Trellis quilt ; 10/11 Circles quilt x 2; 12. Butterflies ; 13. Superhero quilt ; 14. Houses quilt

Clothes making is my new (or rather renewed) interest!   I did get a few things made last quarter but a few remained and have now been joined by some new ones (I may even have more than these - yes I have got a bit carried away  confess):

Top Row
15. Aster Shirt in Leafscape; 16. Juniper trousers in Linen ;  17. Xmas PJs
Middle Row
18. Alder Shirt Dress in Liberty & cambric; 19 Out and About Dress in jersey; 20/21. A-line skirts x2;
Bottom Row
22. Camas blouse in striped shirting ; 23/24. Archer shirt in Liberty needlecord x 2 ; 25. Myla Tank in Liberty Chiffon ;

Top Row
26. Beckley Shawl in Black Isle yarn; 27. Rosebud scarf; 28. Washi dress in big bird fabric and grey cord;
Middle Row
29. Gored skirt in Liberty Varuna wool (need to hem it) ; 30. Zinnia skirt in silk (need to hem it) ; 31. Gored skirt in Indian silk;
Bottom Row
32.  Chantilly dress in Liberty lawn ; 33. Another Myla tank in Liberty chiffon; 34. Chardon skirt in Paisley

And of course I had to add a few new ones!  Though I should give upholstery a go!

Top Row
35. Embroidery piece from my workshop with Carina ; 36. Upholster bathroom chair (I bought this second hand and have been meaning to replace the tatty fabric since) ; 37. More fabric boxes ;
Bottom Row 38. Upholster two Ercol armchairs (It doesn't go with my carpet) ; 39. Liberty stars something - possibly a cushion ; 40. Upholster dining room chairs X 9 (my hubby has been nagging me for years to do something about this)

So hey not as long as last time!   Distinct possibilities of getting lots done then??  Wish me luck!

Quarter Four 2016 is here! Link up your lists!

Finish A Long 2016

Quarter four of 2016 is here and this is the final round up of projects for this year....I find that hard to believe don't you?

As you are already aware, the 2016 FAL has gone global - a community of bloggers across the world, jointly hosting the FAL. Our hosts are:
For those of you who are new to the FAL, it is a place to find motivation and encouragement to complete those unfinished projects that are hanging about becoming UFOs. It has worked well for me (though maybe not this quarter) in the past an I truly believe the encouragement I have received and the deadlines have helped me finish lots of things.

Every quarter you post a list of projects you hope to finish in the next three months, and then at the end of the quarter, you post a link from your blog, Flickr or Instagram of each successful finish from your original list. Each finish is an entry for wonderful prizes from our sponsors. And even if you don't win a prize you still have some wonderful finishes so really everyone wins.

There is no penalty for not finishing a listed project, so feel free to make your list long (that's my model) or short, as you wish. The 2016 Schedule and Rules for the FAL are on my permanent FAL page All You Need to Know About Finish Along 2016 , let me know if you have any questions.

 Here are the fantastic and generous sponsors for Q4 of the FAL - you can see each of their prizes listed under their logo (think about visiting them and saying thank you):

You may recall from previous quarters that there was a return of tutorial week at the end of each quarter, between the opening of the link for finishes and the day that link closes.

Are you enjoying this? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below! This will take place each quarter. Each host works hard to put these together so I hope you are visiting their blogs to encourage them. If you have a tutorial that you would like to share, please let me or another host know.

So it's time to round up those projects you want to finish over the next three months, take a photo of where you are now, and make your list.

Please ensure that you have at least started your projects - pulled fabric with a pattern or plan, and remember that it is finished projects that will get you entry toward the above listed prizes. So while we love to see your bee blocks, the "finish" is when they are a completed, usable project.

It is very helpful if you tag your Q4list as #FALQ4yourname. The 2016 Q4 link for your list of proposed finishes is now open below on my blog and on each of the hosting blogs. You only link your list once, on one blog - and that link will show up on all of the blogs.

If you are using Flickr or Instagram, link a mosaic and put your list in the description. Katy of The Littlest Thistle has a great tutorial on how to link-up if you need it.

We also ask that you become part of the FAL community. Please check out the links of others and visit and comment on their lists. We all need encouragement to get those finishes done, so please share some of your own too.

When creating your list there is one thing to remember....No deductions for not completing something so ..... Aim High! Nothing to lose!!! Well Now..... Get those lists together and get linked up.

The Q4 linky party will stay open until 11 pm EST, October 16, 2016- as we are global, you might want to check your time zone to determine your last possible time to link. Remember: you only need to link up on ONE hosting blog and it will automatically show up on all hosting blogs.

Finish - Along Quarter Three - Link up those finishes!

Finish A Long 2016

What?  It is the end of another quarter....Q3 of the 2016 FAL!?  When did that happen??  When I wasn't looking I guess.  I hope this event isn't taking you by surprise and that you have your project completed....

 The 2016 FAL is now global - a community of bloggers across the world are jointly hosting the FAL. Our hosts are:
It's time to link up the projects on your 2016 Q3 FAL list that you finished. First, a huge thank you to our fantastic sponsors:

For the 2016 FAL, we also will feature a tutorial week. Here is the schedule so you can visit them all:

The 2016 Q3 link for your finishes is now open below on my blog and on each of the hosting blogs - you only need to link on one blog for your finish to appear on each blog. Link-up "rules"
  • Add one link for each finish. If you want to link a round up post of all your finishes, use that link to enter one of your finishes and then link the rest of your finishes separately. Please, only one link per finish, as your link is an entry into the randomly drawn prize draws.
  • Please use the 2016 FAL button or the hashtag #2016FAL
  • Please ensure that the photo or blog post you link up contains a link or reference back to your original list so that we can verify your entry (make sure it is from the appropriate quarter)
  • Please become part of the FAL community. Please check out the links of others and comment. We all need encouragement so let's applaud each other. The 2016 FAL Facebook page is here and follow us on Instagram @finishlong and tag your photos #2016fal and #falq2yourname (substitute your name - this makes it easier for us to match your finishes with your lists.
  • Our hosts will also link their finishes to share in the community, but they are not eligible for any of the prizes.
The Q3 Finishes link will stay open from now through October 7, 2016 - link up your finishes early and if you have a last minute one, add that one later so you don't miss out. The prizes will be awarded as soon as we can verify all the entries and do the drawings. We will post the winners on each hosts' blog.

Start making your Q4 FAL lists as the Q4 list link opens on October 8.
