So I was talking with the lovely Jenny and Jenny at the Sussex Sewing Club in February - yes they are two different and wonderful girls! We all expressed an interest in making a postage stamp quilt! Crazy I know!
Well I have lots of small scraps and think this will be the best way to use them up. Not sure what everyone else's excuse is??
Chatting on Instagram with Dee and her plan to cut up 2 1/2" squares we agreed to 'meet up' on Tuesdays and cut our scraps whatever size was required with the hashtag #scrappytrimalong ! Everyone is welcome to join in - you know you want to - whether that be cutting or cheering along.
This will hopefully happen every Tuesday! Little and often will certainly get it done! As you can see it is working for me....

I love PS quilts and have exchanged "stamps" myself. The smaller the "stamp" the better! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteOK, first of all, I love that you're using a pretty glass pitcher for a catch-all! I'm going to pull something nice out to do the same when I start precision-cutting my tiny scraps. I've been wanting to do an "Oh My God" type quilt based on 1" (CUT) pieces. It's probably going to be June before I finish enough urgent UFOs to start in on serious cutting for that. I also have more spring cleaning and organizing of my deep storage area to finish first, so that I have all my scraps in one place.
ReplyDeletePostage stamp quilts are some of my favorites. I recommend starting with a pull of fabrics and trimming. Have a secondary pull ready to sprinkle in. This has helped give my PS quilts lots of variety and maintain a theme. Excited to see what you create.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to join the trimming party, just need to clear my sewing table of all the stuff I've put on there to put away ;o)
ReplyDeleteI'm at work on Tuesday and that's my excuse! I did start a project like this years ago and I think I donated the pile of scraps to someone! I'll cheer from the sidelines.
