So what scrappy thing have I been doing?
I have forged ahead with my first scrappy project which actually predates Scraptastic Tuesday and am happy to have a finished quilt to share with you today!
It started out like this - a lot of handkerchief corners ..(yes I did piece it all in rows)
But I realised I didn't want to make a quilt full of these blocks! So I unpieced the rows and paired them up with some left over tumbler blocks I stitched into Dresdens.
And made a quilted background from lots of Low Volume 2.5" squares which I quilted with a floral pattern ....
And here is the final quilt.... it is made from scrappy everything - top, border, backing fabric, wadding and binding. I feel like this is a totally free quilt....

Did I make a difference to my scrap mountain? It doesn't seem like it at the moment ....guess I'll just have to keep on stitching on!
I need to write a proper tutorial for my next sampler block - it is another 15" one and not at all tricky that size! If you have made a Farmer's Wife quilt you might even recognise the block but I'm not quite there yet with writing that tutorial!

ReplyDeleteIt is not the first time you pair up quilts and the final product always look so good. When I try that it looks so ... well like two quilts smudged together lol. You have a special eye. Great work. I love your new quilt. Congrats on a beautiful finish.

ReplyDeleteNicky, your quilt is such an inspiration! I love it - and I love the way you took those blocks and refreshed them into a quilt that absolutely sings with happiness! Now I can't wait to get in there and look at some of my old UFO blocks to see if they are languishing simply because they are begging to be remade into something new :)
