Plus time!I

Back in August I asked my lovely Stingy Bee mates to make me some plus blocks....

I enjoyed the anticipation and that phlump as little squishy packages arrived through my letterbox ....isn't that the best sound in the world??  Blocks from Catherine....

Opening them up did not disappoint me as the blocks are all lovely made with fabrics from my friends' stashes.   I am nosy without a doubt so it is fabulous to see what they have!

I had no clear vision of what my quilt would be like except that I would offset my blocks rather than line them up in a grid.

At some point I realised that with a few additions I could make a rainbow which graduated in colour from dark at the top to light at the bottom.

Yehay!  This is a totally new venture for me as I'm more of a random/splash the colour all around sort of person.  But everyone was saying encouraging things and I liked it!

I started piecing them all in their offset diagonal strips - a technique I picked up on Sarah Fielke's Craftsy class !   If you want to learn about partial seams it is a good way to learn - one quilt and you can fearlessly face any partial seam I think!  Not really difficult it just takes a bit longer...

So now all my blocks are together and I am pondering how to finish off the two corners - at the moment I have a parallelogram rather than a quilt.

Hmmmm!  I am thinking short rows next to square it off!

And then there is always the back....

  2. What Charlotte said.
You must have a wider letter box than me to get a 'phlump' sound...the postman always has to ring twice for me ;-)

  4. I just love what you are doing with this quilt and I am sure you will find the answer to filling the corners. As it is a rainbow how about shades of greys as skies after a storm.

  11. If you did just scrappy patches in the corners that co-ordinate with the background it might really let the pluses pop. The layout so far is great.
