Sorry about the photos today - the weather is windy outside and a bit gloomy. Autumn is definitely on it's way!
As you can see all stars are completed and here are the few extra for Bee Blessed.
This is a worthwhile cause if you feel like joining in. I'm sure you still can at the Bee Blessed Flickr Group! This month was wonky stars but Judith will be giving us another block to tackle next month to challenge us and keep the fun coming!
These will be flying over to Ireland!
All my stars are joined together. All ready for layering ...but maybe a border needs to be added?? What do you think? It measures 42" square. Is that big enough for a baby quilt?
I was wanting to add baby's name but hadn't decided how! Still don't know but it may well depend of whether there is a border or not....I have already had some suggestions but keep them coming.....all ideas are welcome...

I actually don't think this one needs a border. Plenty big enough for a baby and as a cuddle lap quilt as they grow.
ReplyDeleteI think a border would look nice and it would give you a place to add the name?
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely and fresh.
This is gorgeous Nicky. You could always add a top/bottom border only (will make it a rectangular quilt), and within one of those applique or embroidery baby's name. Thanks so much again for the Bee blocks - they're adorable. Some family is going to be v.blessed to have those in their baby quilt. Jxo
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous baby quilt. I agree. Only add to top and bottom if you want a border, then you can get away with one width of fabric for the backing.
ReplyDeleteLooking good! A wider-than-normal binding in the same color as the star points is all you need to act as a border.
ReplyDeleteOh it looks lovely! I'd maybe do a small border top and bottom, cos I prefer not to have a square, but really it is plently big enough for a nippers first quilt! So, up to you :-) Really like the spotty fabric for the background, nice change from seeing white!
ReplyDeletecute quilt, if I was going to add a border I would do the top and bottom but I really think it is fine just the way it is
ReplyDeleteyou could always cut out the baby's name in bubble letters using a font from your computer and hand applique it to the back of the quilt

It looks adorable!! I really don't think it needs a border - and this way you can just get away with one width of fabric! (I usually aim for around 40" square for baby quilts as they are big enough but not unwieldy to fold, etc.) How about fusing the name to the back and then using a machine zigzag/buttonhole stitch (or buttonhole hand stitch in embroidery thread looks nice). Or you could try liberated letters to go with your liberated stars! Whatever you choose will be lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis has turned out so CUTE! I agree with other com mentors, I think it looks great just as it is, no border needed.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, I really like that the sashing has a slight design. It's big enough so if you don't want to add a border you don't need to. I Know what you mean about the weather, it's so dark and grey by the time I get home from work (never mind the rain) so am not sure when I will get photos!
ReplyDeletevery cute! I wouldn't worry about a border, 42" sq is a great baby quilt size
ReplyDeletesuper cute! what a great way to keep a little one toasty. the stars are great.
