Our Village Fete

We went to our local village fete yesterday - it is a small affair with a dog show attached but we were too late to see that bit this year.  There are stalls and kids stuff and food and drink.  Most of the village turn out at some point.  It is a community thing but also raises money to keep the village hall going and all the stalls are run by local people.

Some vintage cars dropped by

The local school children were dancing in pouring rain until they stopped for a bit of respite...

A traditional coconut shy

It was raining on and off all day and we were quite late in arriving but some hardy people still gathered there and had some fun....in a good cause!

A little slice of English country life ....

  1. Heck, hope no one knocked off the coconut standing at the very end!!! Good old English weather guaranteed to turn up for a special occasion. Looks like you all had fun anyway. Was there a craft stand?

  3. How gorgeous. What is the name of the village? We have an annual book fair. Each year I donate a few old books and end up bringing home more books that end up back at the fair a few years down the line.

  4. Ah, you were enjoying the same slice of life I was. Nothing like a cold rainy day for a fete. In actual fact, of six years of school fetes for me this is the first time it has been truly miserable. Guess I have been lucky!

  5. Fun! Must be like our little school or church festivals. I am not sure what coconut shy is, but it looks dangerous for the fellow standing in front of the backdrop! How fun to see a little piece of your life!

  7. Looks like everyone had fun despite the rain. Enjoyed seeing that dapper-looking vintage car and the coconut shy (had not heard of that tradition). Did you find a lot of good books?
